HISTORY Wudinna Area School was established in 1946 and included a small library. In 1970, a Teacher-Librarian was appointed and on 20 November 1978, after a great deal of lobbying and community support, an agreement was reached to offer its services to the community. The Wudinna Area School Library was established. The first librarian was Erna Franklin and the first Community Assistant was Chris Heath.
Initially the library was housed in a prefab building but a new brick building was built and opened on 30 October 1990. A manual circulation system was used until November 1989 when the automated library system, Dynix, was installed. Regular events for the library are the Biggest Morning Tea, Book Week and a Book Fair.

MANAGEMENT & FUNDING Funding for the library comes from the Wudinna District Council as well as the Library Board of South Australia. The Board of Management for the library consists of the librarian, school principal, council representative, school council representative and four community representatives.

The library accesses other community libraries through PLAIN (Public Libraries Automated Information Network). This enables the library to borrow resources as requested by patrons.
