Medical Services Update

Community Update – Wudinna Medical Services

Following a submission to the Eyre and Far North Local Health Network, we are advised that a medical service for three days a fortnight is being provided via Ceduna Family Medical Practice in Wudinna.

Dr Patrick Mutandwa will be attending. Patients can call 0467 734 585 to book an appointment with Dr Patrick. They will need to give their details over the phone and then fill out a new patient consent form upon arrival. This phone will be answered by the staff at the Ceduna Family Medical Practice.

We are advised this service will be operating from the Wudinna Hospital and we are pleased to finally have this service now in place.

Costs were cited as the reason for declining a weekly service for our district.  It was disappointing to hear the Hospital is being used instead of our nearby well-resourced Wudinna Health Centre for the consults. Thank you to all local Health Staff for the amazing job you do for our community.

The Eyre & Far North Local Health Network (EFNLHN) Board advise they will have further discussion with SA Health and the Minister for Health & Wellbeing, given that EFNLHN is not funded to provide GP Consultation Services, though this does appear to be happening across the region at other sites.

Council intends to follow up our issues directly with the new Minister for Health and Wellbeing. Please try and book ahead where you can for the fortnightly service as I hear the phone is running hot! We will continue to give Community updates as further information is received.
