Since 1984 Australia Day Awards have been presented to community members at a public ceremony. The awards provide the community with an opportunity to publicly acknowledge the contribution made by certain individuals for the betterment of the district. For a period of time Council decided to hold the Australia Day Awards on a biennial basis and some categories continue to be awarded in this manner. The next Australia Day Awards Ceremony will be held on 26 January.
