Enrolling to Vote

To vote in the Local Government Elections, you must be enrolled on the South Australian electoral roll or, if eligible, the Wudinna District Council Voters Roll.

If you are already enrolled to vote at your current residential address for State and Federal elections, you do not need to enrol again. Your details will be used for the Council election and your ballot pack will be sent to you automatically.

If you have recently moved, changed your name or your details are no longer current, make sure your enrolment is updated before the close of the electoral roll.

Council Voters Roll

Some people who are not enrolled at a residential address within the Wudinna District Council area may still be eligible to enrol on Council's Voters Roll.

You may be eligible if you:

  • own property within the Wudinna District Council area but do not live in the district; or
  • occupy or lease property within the Wudinna District Council area for business purposes but do not live in the district.

Voters Roll enrolment can involve additional eligibility requirements, particularly where a property is jointly owned, leased by more than one person, or owned or occupied by a company.

If you are unsure whether you are eligible or which enrolment form you need, contact Wudinna District Council for assistance.

For information about enrolling or updating your electoral details, visit the Electoral Commission of South Australia (ECSA) website.

Nominating for Council

Interested in representing your community on Wudinna District Council?

Standing for election as a Council Member is an opportunity to contribute to the future of the Wudinna district and represent the interests of the local community.

Council Members work together to make decisions about the direction of Council, local services, facilities and community priorities.

If you are considering nominating, it is important to understand the role and responsibilities of a Council Member, eligibility requirements and the nomination process.

You must be enrolled to nominate as a candidate.

For more information about becoming a candidate, including eligibility requirements and how to nominate, visit the Council Elections website.

You can also speak with a current or former Council Member to learn more about their experience and what is involved in serving on Council.

Voting

The 2027 Local Government Election will be conducted by post. Eligible voters will receive a ballot pack containing their ballot papers and voting information at the postal address recorded on the electoral roll.

Ballot packs are expected to be mailed between 11 and 17 March 2027.

Voting in Council elections is not compulsory, but it is an opportunity to participate in the election and have your say on who is elected to Council.

Once your ballot pack arrives, follow the instructions provided to complete and return your vote by the closing date.
