Wudinna - Finalist in 2023 Ag Town of the Year

Wudinna township has been selected by an independent judging panel as one of three finalists in the 2023 Ag Town of the Year Award.

The Agricultural Town of the Year Award proudly highlights the vital role that agriculture plays in the regional landscape – being the backbone of most regional communities.

Wudinna was initially nominated for the Award by Wudinna Area School Governing Council Chairperson, Megan Lister, along with 72 other towns across South Australia. The focus of the initial nomination was the exciting Ag programme at Wudinna Area School supported by a wide range of members of the community and business, as well as the impact and importance of agriculture on the community and surrounding district.

Wudinna was then one of 11 towns selected as semi finalists and a detailed submission was prepared for an independent judging panel. This was supported with a video of the town and its involvement in agriculture that was produced by students and staff from Wudinna Area School. The video can be accessed through the following link - https://youtu.be/9w6VzbwIYYI.

Wudinna has now been successful in being one of three towns left in the process along with Eudunda and Bordertown .

Final judging for the Award will take place in Wudinna on Wednesday, 27 September 2023. Judges will be looking for an itinerary that showcases the diverse range of community members, initiatives and achievements in agriculture.

A working group of community representatives is now being pulled together to develop the itinerary to give Wudinna the best chance possible of winning this award in 2023.

People interested in the working group, or who have ideas to contribute to the process are encouraged to contact Council on 8680 2002.
